Assistant/Associate Professor, Chemical and Materials Engineering

The Chemical & Materials Engineering Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at Assistant or Associate Professor level depending on qualifications. Applicants must demonstrate a distinguished academic record and be prepared to develop or have developed an internationally recognized and externally funded research program in experimental materials science/engineering. We are especially interested in research that complements and synergizes with ongoing activities across the university and in the surrounding community. Applicants must also be committed to excellence in teaching chemical and materials engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. A PhD in chemical engineering or a closely related field is required. Women and candidates from member groups traditionally under-represented in engineering are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Department has approximately 140 undergraduate and 20 graduate students with an ABET accredited undergraduate program, an M.S. Program, and a Ph.D. Chemical Engineering option through Mechanical Engineering. Faculty in the department also participate in two distinct interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs, Materials Science and Biotechnology. Faculty have research specializations in catalysis, thermodynamics, sustainable energy, nanotechnology, biomaterials, biomolecular and cellular engineering, and immuno-engineering.

The College of Engineering (COE) has five departments and sustains the largest enrollment in the university. Materials-related research is ongoing across the chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering departments within COE, across the chemistry and physics departments within the College of Science, and in the Center for Applied Optics.
