POSITION: Chair, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, 10.5 mo appointment, full time, tenure track/tenured, benefits eligible position.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Applicants are expected to have a track record of academic accomplishment in Chemical Engineering education, publications, and scholarly activities to warrant appointment at the rank of associate professor or higher. Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, responsiveness to student needs, administrative skills, team development, and positive problem resolution skills are also essential. The applicant must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. Experience in biochemistry, energy conversion, particle technology or related field is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will report directly to the Dean of Engineering and Sciences and will be responsible for the academic administration of the Chemical Engineering Department. The successful candidate is expected to oversee accreditation activities, teach courses in chemical engineering, coordinate course scheduling and student advising, develop and implement program assessment tools, provide oversight of faculty, develop the department budget, and other chair duties. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be engaged in teaching and scholarly activities.
