The University of Alabama College of Engineering is seeking to fill an instructor position in the department of Chemical & Biological Engineering. Exceptional applicants are sought that have a passion for teaching and curriculum development across the field of chemical engineering. UA’s B.S. degree program attracts outstanding students from across the USA and internationally with an average ACT score of over 31. Seventy percent of the students majoring in chemical engineering are also members of UA’s Honors College. Primary duties of the successful candidate will include teaching in core lecture classes, unit operations laboratory and/or senior design courses, as well as appropriate service roles in the department. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor, joining a department of dedicated professors (che.eng.ua.edu/people). This is a three-year non-tenure track position subject to annual renewal.
The College of Engineering occupies well over 500,000 square feet of state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, including the $300 million Shelby Engineering and Science Quadrangle completed in 2014 and the newly reopened $22 million renovated H.M. Comer.
Applicants must have an earned masters (M.S.) or doctorate (Ph.D.) in chemical engineering or a closely related field. Experience in the chemical process industry or engineering design is also desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high performance level in the classroom or laboratory, actively engage students, and take a leadership role in curricular matters.
Application packages must be submitted electronically and should consist of a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching interests and experience, and contact information for at least three references. Applications will be accepted and reviewed continuously until the position is filled. Apply online at facultyjobs.ua.edu, requisition 0811862.
