Position Overview:

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for the non tenure-track, special professional faculty position of Assistant Chair for Academic Affairs. http://cbe.nd.edu

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to engineering education at the undergraduate level. The assistant chair will report directly to the department chair and will coordinate special projects related to undergraduate studies. This position requires a detailed oriented, motivated person who can re-prioritize their workload to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Responsibilities:
The faculty member is expected to

● serve as the department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies

● advise undergraduate students about study abroad, undergraduate research and internship positions, and post-graduate opportunities

● lead the department’s ABET accreditation efforts

● may assist with teaching undergraduate chemical engineering courses and labs

● execute special projects in consultation with the department chair

QUALIFICATIONS

- an earned doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field
- university level teaching experience in engineering preferred
- excellent writing and presentations skills along with a talent for listening carefully and communicating tactfully
- demonstrated ability to work well with department, college, and university colleagues and with external organizations
- an appreciation for the intellectual values that animate an education in the Catholic tradition and the department’s continuing commitment to diversity
