The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University is seeking to fill new tenure-track, assistant-professor positions in the broad research areas of "Energy" and the "Environment," with a preferred start date of Fall 2016. We invite outstanding applicants with a doctoral degree in chemical engineering (or closely related field) from a recognized institution, and a proven record of academic accomplishment. The broad research area of "Energy" includes, but is not limited to, such subfields as fundamental experimental and/or computational studies on energy and energy-efficient manufacturing from renewable resources, on combustion, or on development of innovative chemical and electrochemical processes for energy production, conversion & storage, including batteries/fuel cells. The broad research area of "Environment" includes, but is not limited to, such subfields as fundamental experimental and/or computational studies on environmental transport & fate, atmospheric processes, environmental chemodynamics, separations/water quality, innovative green engineering processes, and global sustainability issues. The successful candidates are expected to build a strong and vibrant research program in their chosen research area, by working both individually and collaboratively.
The application package should be submitted online (https://lsusystemcareers.lsu.edu/) as a single PDF file with the application materials organized as follows: (a) cover letter; (b) complete curriculum vitae; (c) statement on research interests and directions; (d) statement on teaching interests and philosophy; and (e) names and contact details of at least three references. The cover letter should clearly specify the applicant's research area as either (i) "Energy†or (ii) "Environment.†The closing date for applications is January 1, 2015, or until candidates are selected.
