FACULTY POSITION FOR PROGRAM IN CORROSION ENGINEERING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON
The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at The University of Akron seeks to fill a full-time, tenure track faculty position as part of its Corrosion Engineering Program for the Fall 2017 semester.
The University of Akron (UA) is a research-intensive public university with over 29,000 students. The College of Engineering is one of the five fastest growing colleges in the country and has increased its research expenditures four fold between 2008 and 2015. Approximately 3,000 undergraduates and 400 graduate students are pursuing B.S. through Ph.D. degrees in seven areas including the nation's only B.S. degree in Corrosion Engineering. The National Corrosion Center at UA (NCERCAMP) promotes world-class research in corrosion and materials performance in a collaborative environment among the corrosion faculty along with over 30 affiliated faculty members.

Responsibilities:
Duties for the position include teaching a diverse group of students at the undergraduate and graduate level, supervision of MS and Ph. D. students, and establishment/management of a vigorous, externally funded, scholarly research program.
Required Qualifications:
The appointed title will be determined by the finalists' credentials and experience.
A Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline with expertise in corrosion, corrosion mitigation, materials degradation, fracture mechanics, environmental cracking, or computational modeling in corrosion is encouraged. Participation in faculty governance, professional service including outreach to the community and instructional support are a must.
