TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CHEMICAL AND BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Lehigh University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor with a preferred starting date of August 2016. We are looking for exceptional candidates with research interests in the broad area of Smart Manufacturing that cuts across one or more disciplines related, but not limited, to data analytics, information based computational systems engineering, lean chemical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, network optimization, automation and control. The position will be closely aligned with relevant campus initiatives that include DATAX, Bioengineering, the Smart Grid faculty cluster and high performance computing. Applicants must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in chemical engineering or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research program, engage in enthusiastic teaching of undergraduate and graduate students in chemical engineering, and contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is home to 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, four Professors of Practice, several adjunct/jointly appointed faculty, 200 undergraduate declared majors, 55 PhD students and 40 MS/ME students. Department faculty are recipients of numerous national and international awards the most recent of which include the AIChE Allan P. Colburn Award, Sloan Research Fellowship, NSF CAREER awards, DOE Young Investigator Award and several AIChE CAST Division Awards. Lehigh University is a recipient of an NSF ADVANCE Institutional Transformation award for promoting the careers of women in academic science and engineering
