Research Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for a research faculty position in chemical engineering. This position will involve significant research responsibilities in the broad area of energy with an emphasis on subsurface energy resources such as gas hydrates or geothermal energy. One to three years of research experience (after the Ph.D.) is required. Collaborations with existing faculty in the Department are encouraged.

An earned Ph.D. in chemical engineering and a BS in chemical engineering are required. While the successful candidate will focus on developing an externally-funded research program, there will be some limited teaching duties.

West Virginia University (http://www.wvu.edu) is a comprehensive land grant research institution enrolling 30,000 students in 113 degree programs, including engineering, law and health sciences. The Chemical Engineering Department (http://www.che.statler.wvu.edu) has 13 tenure-track faculty members, 200 undergraduate students, and 50 graduate students. It offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. The Department conducts approximately $3 million annually in externally sponsored research. Strong opportunities exist for building collaborative partnerships with nearby federal research facilities, including the Department of Energy and local industry.
