The Chemical Engineering Department (http://www.northeastern.edu/che) at Northeastern University is a vibrant academic enterprise undergoing rapid growth in both size and stature. The department comprises 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty with active research programs spanning advanced materials, energy, and biological engineering. The department is home to approximately 30 Ph.D. students and about 350 undergraduate students with enrollments in both categories undergoing rapid growth. At the core of the Northeastern engineering education experience is our top ranked cooperative education program which contributes significantly to the integrated learning model of the College of Engineering. Given recently announced plans to dramatically expand the number of faculty hires across the University (http://www.northeastern.edu/lrp/), the next chair of the Chemical Engineering Department has a unique opportunity to significantly impact the direction and trajectory of an already strong department.

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated strategic vision in their research enterprises which should be well-established, well-funded and internationally recognized. Successful candidates will also have demonstrated excellence and significant record of teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level; research, teaching or collaborative background that spans multiple aspects of chemical engineering; and, previous expertise managing a large federally-funded research group or center. A Doctorate degree in chemical engineering or related fields of science and engineering is required.

Applicants should submit a detailed curriculum vitae and five professional references. In addition, the application should include a strategic vision statement for the department and statements of research and teaching plans. The target starting date is July 1, 2012. Consideration of applications will begin on December 1, 2011 and will continue until the position is filled.
