Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, - Ref:1285431

UCL Department / Division Chemical Engineering
Grade 7
Hours Full Time
Salary(inclusive of London allowance)£35,707- £38,744 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

The Chemical Engineering Department at UCL was established in 1923 and is thus one of the oldest in the UK. Research has always been a major departmental activity, with 75% of staff rated as world leading or of internationally excellent quality in the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise. The persons appointed would be joining an expanding, vigorous and forward looking Department that is committed to the highest standards of teaching and research and whose aim is to develop both significant advances in fundamental knowledge and in pioneering technology impact breakthroughs.

The successful candidates will be expected to complement the research in the department and contribute in the focus area of advanced manufacturing of chemicals and materials and enhanced resource (energy, water, material) efficiency as well as to establish and lead a vigorous externally funded research programme of international standing. Teaching and administration duties will be allocated within the present departmental degree programmes, which include BEng, MEng, MSc and PhD.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a proven research and teaching record in chemical engineering. A first degree and a PhD in Chemical Engineering or cognate discipline are required. An important strategic direction of the Department is working at the interfaces with other science and engineering disciplines to support innovation and evidence of this in candidates will be an advantage.
