The Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.

With over 100 years of history of innovation and creativity in research and education, the department is one of the premier chemical engineering departments in the country, and represents one of seven academic departments in the 4th ranked College of Engineering. The student body includes approximately 200 undergraduate, 80 Masters, and 100 PhD students. The faculty includes 19 tenure-track and 3 teaching-track faculty complemented by a number of courtesy and adjunct faculty from diverse areas.

Applicants must have earned a PhD in chemical engineering or a field of engineering or science closely related to chemical engineering. We are open with respect to rank and research area; applicants with expertise in data science, machine learning and/or process systems engineering will be of particular interest. For senior level applicants, teaching experience and an internationally recognized record of research are expected. Carnegie Mellon promotes collaboration, and thus we welcome applicants with an interest in a joint position with another Department across the College of Engineering. We highly value applicants who are driven to nurture an inclusive and culturally diverse environment in our Department and, more broadly, at Carnegie Mellon. We will actively seek a diverse applicant pool in terms of gender, race, veteran status, and disability.

Interested candidates should submit applications electronically at http://apply.interfolio.com/78480, which should contain a cover letter, curriculum vitae and three statements: a statement of research experience and interests; a statement of teaching experience and interests; and a statement describing how the candidate has contributed to and plans to contribute to diversity, inclusion, and equality. The Search Committee will solicit names of references and their contact information after the initial review, and only for a subset of applicants. These applicants will be notified in advance before letters are requested.

Review of applications will begin on September 15, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled. The expected start date is August 1, 2021. E-mail inquiries concerning this position may be sent to the Search Committee emailing Ms. Laura Shaheen.
