The Department of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The position is expected to be filled at the assistant professor level, but senior-level individuals with exceptional records will also be considered. All areas of chemical engineering are of interest, including but not limited to advanced materials, biotechnology, energy & sustainability, modeling (molecular simulation, systems etc), separations, process simulation & design, and process automation & control. We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated excellence in research and have a strong commitment to teaching and working with students.

Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a statement describing their research interests and future plans, a statement of their teaching interests and philosophy, and will be asked for the names and contact information for at least three professional references.

The Department of Chemical Engineering currently has 16 faculty members, 480 undergraduate students, and 35 graduate students. Externally-funded research has doubled in the past two years, and the Department is on a trajectory to double its graduate enrollment over the next five years. In March 2018, the undergraduate program was ranked 9th in the nation by College Factual, making it the highest-ranked program in the State of Michigan. The Department has one of the best Unit Operations Laboratory in the nation, with two pilot-plant set-ups and state-of-the-art process simulation and control facility. Michigan Tech’s graduates are eagerly sought by industry because of their hands-on training and rigorous coursework.
