Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor position in the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University. We invite applicants with a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related field) from recognized institutions and a proven record of academic accomplishment. The broad research areas of interest include: chemical manufacturing, process control, process synthesis, process analytics and design, smart manufacturing, optimization, process modeling, process systems engineering, and process intensification.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses in chemical engineering and to build a strong research program through independent and collaborative work. Applicants are also encouraged to review the strategic plans of the University (LSU Strategic Plan 2025) and the College of Engineering, both available online at http://www.lsu.edu.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering courses

• Building and maintaining a recognized, externally funded research program

• Supervising graduate student research and instruction

• Providing service to LSU, the chemical engineering profession, and the community

Required qualifications: PhD or equivalent degree in chemical engineering or closely related field. PhD candidates will be considered, as long as the PhD is obtained by August 15, 2020.

About the department: The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the first undergraduate programs in chemical engineering with roots in the Audubon Sugar School (1897). For over 100 years, our faculty and alumni have established an outstanding record of advancing scholarship, producing goods and services on a global scale, and serving our profession, academia, and our communities. Our department has recently moved to a new building and growing our faculty continues to honor our longstanding mission.
