Department of Chemical Engineering
Virginia Tech

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to support efforts to develop polymeric materials with predictable functional properties for use in additive manufacturing. Candidates with research expertise in polymer/composite processing and rheology, structure/property relationships, and/or materials discovery/synthesis are sought. This position is part of a coordinated team hiring strategy led by the Virginia Tech College of Engineering for five interdisciplinary faculty in Advanced Manufacturing to enhance a well-established manufacturing research team. Members of this integrated team will work in a collaborative environment with common space and equipment, while also leveraging established labs on campus and the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing, a public-private partnership in the state. Team members will also have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in the Macromolecules and Interfaces Institute (MII) and to work with students in the Macromolecular Science and Engineering (MACR) graduate degree program.
