FACULTY POSITION in CHEMICAL and BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING at VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University (VUChBE) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position that is open to any rank. We seek an outstanding candidate with demonstrated expertise in the areas of nanotechnology, energy, and/or biomolecular engineering who can synergistically leverage our strong interdisciplinary environment to establish a leading research program that applies engineering approaches to solve key societal problems. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop a vibrant, externally funded research program, along with an equal commitment to outstanding teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

VUChBE (http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/chbe/) is located within a 4 min walk of Vanderbilt's other engineering and science research departments as well as the clinical departments of its renowned co-located medical center, facilitating interdisciplinary engineering research with potential translational impact. Furthermore, numerous interdisciplinary centers and institutes across the campus (http://research.vanderbilt.edu/centers-institutes/) offer access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art core facilities.

Ranked in the top 20 nationally, Vanderbilt University is a private, internationally recognized research university located on 330 park-like acres one and one-half miles from downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Its ten distinct schools share a single cohesive campus that nurtures interdisciplinary activities. The School of Engineering currently comprises 90 tenured and tenure-track faculty, operates with an annual budget of over $100 million, including $70 million from externally funded research, and serves over 1,300 undergraduate and nearly 500 graduate students. In the 2014 rankings of graduate engineering programs by U.S. News & World Report, the School ranks in the top three among programs with fewer than 100 faculty and has risen steadily in the rankings over the past 10 years. The School has recently broken ground on a new 230,000 sq ft building, combining engineering and science in an integrated way, projected for occupancy in the summer of 2016.

Major industries include health care management, tourism, printing and publishing, higher education, music production, and automobile manufacturing.
