THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY: The Department of Chemical Engineering at Penn State (http://www.che.psu.edu) invites applications for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek candidates conducting innovative research related to natural gas, including: catalysis and reaction engineering for conversion of natural gas into liquid fuels and high-value chemicals, gas separations using membranes or novel adsorptive materials, and environmental issues associated with natural gas extraction and processing.

This new faculty position will be able to draw on existing strengths at Penn State in materials, energy, and the environment which are being brought together in a new Institute for Natural Gas Research. The successful applicant is expected to develop and maintain a research program leading to national and international recognition and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.

Applications with curriculum vita, including a summary of research and teaching interests, a statement of future research plans, copies of selected publications, and names of three references, should be sent to Michael Janik at mjanik@psu.edu (electronic submission is preferred) or to FACULTY SEARCH COMMITTEE, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, 158 FENSKE LABORATORY, PENN STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIVESITY PARK, PA 16802-4400. Review of applications will begin in November of 2012 and will continue until the position is filled. We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds. Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
