In the 2010 NRC assessment of doctoral programs, CBE@UB placed in the top 10 nationally in the categories of publications per faculty member, and awards per faculty member. Particular areas of research strength and focus in the department include biomedical engineering, nanomaterials engineering, and molecular and multiscale modeling. At present, we have multiple faculty searches and anticipate continuous growth over the next five years. An anticipated 30% increase in our faculty size is supported by university-wide strategic plans for growth in energy research, nanotechnology, materials research, bioengineering, and related areas where CBE plays a key role.
Significant resources, associated with the launch of the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE@UB) graduate program and related initiatives, are available to support the successful candidate for this position. Affiliation with the cross-disciplinary MSE@UB program will also provide the successful candidate with unique collaborative research opportunities and access to a diverse pool of outstanding graduate students.
